Barbados is a tropical paradise with amazing beaches and a colourful history which is reflected in the architecture. It is only 166 square miles, but is crammed full of some of the most beautiful scenery in the Caribbean and some of the friendliest people.
Other than glorious beaches Barbados boasts caves, gullies, flower gardens, polo, beautiful hotels and private homes. The native chattel houses are colourful; one side of the Island has the Atlantic Ocean with huge crashing waves and the other side the Caribbean, with its coral reef and colourful sea life. There is a ship wreck, a working pirate ship, wonderful restaurants with stunning views, old plantation houses and nightclubs, all of which are more than happy to be used as locations for your production.
The climate is tropical, with a wet season, June – November and a drier season, December – May, but in reality the rainy season is not too wet and Barbados is perfect for shooting all year round.
In Barbados we have a terrific local production co-ordinator and location scout. As we have shot there before, we know the limitations of shooting in such a destination. For example the lighting equipment available is old but it does the job with God lending a hand! Larger cameras have to be brought in from the US but this is a simple task. Also in this day and age when we are shooting on D7’s and smaller cameras we can take them with us from London. We also have accommodation available for small crews, which can help stretch the budget.
Barbados is the ideal starting point for island hopping.
